Why Anarchy?
And how YOU can be a part of this site
Why Anarchy?
Good question...
But first...let me clear up what exactly Anarchy Music is. This website will be covering a wide range of music including metal, punk, emo, hardcore, industrial and a million subgenres. Basically anything from Dashboard Confessional to Cradle Of Filth, from Slayer to HIM. In other words, if you visit one day and we aren't featuring a band that you like, then keep checking back and odds are we'll get to something closer to your tastes in the very near future.
So again, why Anarchy?
There's a lot of music web sites out there, not to mention magazines and other media. So why did I bother to start my own site? What do I hope to accomplish? And most importantly, what part can YOU play in the success of this site?
I will spare you the details and just tell you that I've been working in music promotion off and on for several years now. I say off and on because its been a very frustrating journey. I've worked with a lot of great record labels and made friends with amazing bands, but time after time I have hit the same brick wall. That being that there was someone over me who wanted to screw over the bands, the labels or the music fans. At first I was told that the fans weren't important and to just get their money and get them out the door. Then I was told that the bands were merely tools to somehow make US (the music journalists or promoters) seem more important or whatever.
I just can't see things that way.
My goal all along was to bring the music closer to the fans. To make the listener feel like they were a part of the sucess of their favorite bands. That you were more than just whatever the cost of a cd is. I also wanted to help the bands by promoting their music to fans who are passionate about music, and to do everything in my power to give something back to those fans.
This industry doesn't typically work that way. To achieve my goals I have to throw out the old rule book. I have to do things on my own.
Anarchy.
This website will be the single best web site for passionate music fans to visit. In addition to interviews, cd and concert reviews and all the normal stuff, we'll be giving away autogrpahed cds, posters, and other merchandise from many of the bands we feature. Some contests will be as easy to enter as simply posting on our gossip board or friending a band on Myspace, while others will be geared towards promoting the bands you love. In addition, we will feature popular unsigned bands from around the country, interviews with non-music celebrities who may appeal to our readers as well as feature new clothing lines, movies, books and whatever else you might be interested in. We also hope to serve you by having informative articles on issues like teen suicide, censorship and other subjects that impact your life. Basically, we want to cover the entire spectrum of interests for fans of the types of music we feature. Big dreams, but together we can do this!
So, how can YOU be a part of the site??
Heres a few good ways...
1. Whenever you meet a rock star, send us the pics along with a brief story. I'd like to have a regular section of fan pics so send in your pics anytime and we'll post them on the site.
2. Enter as many contests as you'd like. We'll be giving away tons of autographed merchandise from many of the bands we cover so check back often.
3. Every month one fan (or one male and one female) will be selected as a sort of "fan of the month". In addition to having yourr pictures on the main page and getting the chance to tell everyone about yourself and your favorite bands you'll get a free cd out the deal too. Most of these winners will be selected from our Forum community, but let us know if youd like to be considered.
4. Oh yeah...the Forum. I want to have the largest gathering of music fans on the net. Sign up, make friends and enter our Forum related contests.
5. This site is not just about music, its about YOUR LIFE. If you have an idea for an article or an opinion you'd like to express, feel free to send an email with a brief description of your idea to Anarchy@AnarchyMusic.net with the subject Fan Article. The purpose of this is not to say "I hate this band" but instead to inform or move other visitors, so if you have a cause you believe in, or something you think everyone should know, then send that email!
6. When we reach a point where we have enough lead time before interviews we will involve our readers in the process by letting you submit questions to ask your favorite bands. I'm not sure when we'll be caught up enough to start doing this, but when we are, I'll let you know.
7. We want and need your feedback. Email us at Anarchy@AnarchyMusic.net with all of your comments and suggestions.
8. CLICK THE LINKS! I am not trying to get rich off of this website, and most of the money we make will be put right back into getting more autographed merchandie to give away and to improve the site in other ways. Besides, the companies that sponsor this website are essentially saying that they believe in the concept that people like you are an integral part of the success of any band or product. A lot of people have told me that fans can't make a difference in the success of their favorite bands, so definitely support the sponsors of this site by checking out what they have to offer!
