This website has a stated purpose...to support musical artists and to help bring the artists closer to the fans that support them.

But this pisses me off so bad that I'm going to break that rule...

We were SUPPOSED to feature an interview with former Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler next week...but he is a total mess and a complete disgrace to his former bands legacy.

Here's the story...I am only going to briefly go over the fact that the club that hosted the concert was shut down less than 24 before thsi show. The previous owner pulled everything out without warning and dicked his employees over...so in order to prvent screwing over the fans who paid and the bands who were coming (and hadnt been told of the cancellation) a last minute venue change was sought...a new venue snapped up the concert immediately, but then the original club...apparently sensing that if someone else thought they could profit off the show then probably could as well...so the venue change was stopped by the original club...who at this point had no PA, no lights...no NOTHING.

This is already looking bad huh?

Anyway, local businesses dontaed a lighting rig and a small PA and the show was on...oh, and the bands were going to play for the door, not the originally agreed upon contract price. Things were looking up. Things got a little shady when the club attempted to charge the sound guy, who was donating his time to make this concert happen, for tickets.

But back on topic...Steven Fucking Adler...He was a pathetic, drugged up mess. At one point during the day he came off the buss, ordered a Jager shot, poured it in the bartenders tip jar, took the jar outside of Faster Pussycats bus and pissed in it. Then he went back on the bus for more drugs and wasn't seen again.

The doors opened really late and it was after 10 pm and teh sound was still being worked on. It was STILL being billed as featuring an appearance by Steven Adler, even though he had gotten on a plane back to Los Angeles hours earlier. Bang tango was up first and I must say it was GREAT to finally get to see them. Bang tango was one of the coolest bands from the 80's and has been criminally overlooked for years. The "crowd" of about 20 people enjoyed them though. Bottom line, if you are into 80's rock then check these guys out. Thier singer Joe Leste worked his ass off to make this disaster of a night as enjoyable as possible. He's a great guy who really led this whole thing into what eventually became a rather enjoyable night...unintentionally enjoyable, but thats beside the point.

Next up was Steven Adler and Adler's Appetite...I know what you're thinking...how did Adlers Appetite perform without Adler? Easy, they put a mullet wig on Bang Tngos drummer and played the set anyway. This was all done very tongue in cheek, but noone in the crowd was ever told that it wasn't actually Adler onstage. The Bang tango guys referred to him as Steven Radler several times, but they just wanted to give the fans a bunch of GNR songs, and I got the impression taht they were told to not reveal that it was all a sham. I stood there in disbelief as I watched the worlds first (and only) Adler's Appetite tribute band. The good part of it was that they were better without Adler anyway.

Faster Pussycat was the headliner, though most people were there to see Adler. Vocalist Taime Down's foray into goth rock has made him look like a bloated, not nearly as talented or original Marilyn Manson and it just doesn't fit with the bands history of a sleezy glam band. The result is a convoluted mess, though Taime has surrounded himself with a new band that is not only too talented to be playing second string, but really nice guys. Taime appparently let the string of screw-ups by almost everyone involved in this to affect his mod, making a bad situation even worse.

Overall, from the club who had no PA or lights who maintained an egotistical attitude towards everyone who was helping them, to Adlers drug binge and replacement. It was just a distraous night...saved only by Bang Tango and the new members of Faster Pussycat...it was a horrible, horrible night...dont get me wrong...but at least we smiled through it all.
