JACK'S MANNEQUIN 'READY' FOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Previous Run On "Tour For The Cure" Raised More Than $125,000
Los Angeles, CA (November 27, 2006) - Jack's Mannequin, the side project
of Andrew McMahon, dubbed the "golden voice," songwriting powerhouse and
full-contact keyboardist behind Something Corporate, will head out on a
North American tour with Head Automatica, the AUDITION and special guest
TBA. Thirteen dates have been announced with eight more to be announced
in the coming weeks.
In June 2005 McMahon was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. Joined
by Copeland, Daphne Loves Derby and The Hush Sound, Jack's Mannequin
waged a 22-city "Tour for the Cure," which kicked off in September,
Leukemia Awareness month. McMahon raised more than $125,000 to benefit
The Dear Jack Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by McMahon
to fund cancer research. After chemotherapy and a bone marrow
transplant from his sister, he is currently in remission. "When I
decided to create the Tour For the Cure, it was my hope to raise at
least $50,000 for blood cancer research and awareness. The fact that we
have raised over $125,000 through our initiatives is so inspiring and a
true testament to my fans and all the people who worked so hard on the
tour" said McMahon.
All proceeds from the tour were donated to The Dear Jack Foundation.
Primary beneficiaries of the foundation are the Pediatric Cancer
Research Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society & the Regents of
the University of California to support the research of Dr. Gary
Schiller (McMahon's physician). In select cities, Music Saves Lives
coordinated blood drives in conjunction with local blood centers.
Following the success of the first video "The Mixed Tape," the first
single from the highly personal themed album, Everything In Transit,
which soared to the #1 spot on VH1's Top 20 Video Countdown, McMahon
completed the video for the second single, "Dark Blue," directed by
Brett Simon of DNA (The Killers, Good Charlotte, Hoobastank) which
debuted on Yahoo! in September. Jack's Mannequin is currently on tour
with Panic! At The Disco.
