FIRESCAPE Gears Up for New Album on May 29th
Something Corporate's Josh Partington Forges a New Path

Orange County, CA - When an artist with previous success delivers a new project, the result tends to be either a lackluster imitation of their main gig or a wholly different animal, bursting with a fierceness and energy that they were never able to explore within their constraints. For Something Corporate guitarist and songwriter Josh Partington, the epic quality that he's been harboring comes bursting forth on his project, Firescape whose new album Dancehall Apocalypse will be released via We The People Records on May 29, 2007.
Much more personal and layered than the self-wrought convention of "piano rock" of Something Corporate, Firescape incorporates the melodic rock sub-genre, but reaches deeper and elicits a more primal, rawer sensitivity that's equal parts personal introspection and fiercely hard-edged catharsis. "It's like a photo album in a lot of ways," says Partington.
From the drill-bit guitar precision of the virally-infectious "Breathe In" that explores newfound independence from a relationship ("I'll blanket your fear with a smiling intent to do wrong") to the chiming expansiveness of "Erase This" ("Your disguise would set me off") to the poetically epic "The Sound" ("I see reflections of you and I like burning pictures on the ground"), Dancehall Apocalypse is a heavy record that combines the attack of Queens of the Stone Age, the melodic nature of Jimmy Eat World or Pinkerton-era Weezer and the layered depth of The Cure's Disintegration. It is not a comment on a failing situation, rather a stylistic elaboration on sound and substance.
